SnapSafe is not a traditional company when it comes to gun safes. Their portfolio includes everything from modular safes to specialty safes and lock boxes.

Their safes are loved by people all over the world as they are not only cheap but also extremely functional and stylish. On top of this, the vast majority of their safes are so different from one another that you can find something that suits you very easily.

With so many safes to choose from, it can be a difficult task weighing their pros and cons against one another. For this reason, we have gone ahead and selected the best safe from each of their categories.

Choosing the right safe for yourself should be easy. Here, we take a look at 5 of the best safes that are on offer from SnapSafe and how they differ from one another.

Best Products by SnapSafe Reviewed

Best Overall: SnapSafe Titan

Pros
  • Anti-breach door
  • Quite heavy when built
  • 60-minute fire protection
  • Customizable Shelves
Cons
  • Will not suffice for someone with a lot of guns

This is my favorite SnapSafe product. Although it only has the capacity to store 12 long guns, I find its compact size to be a perfect fit for small apartments and houses. Here are a few reasons why I think this is a great choice:

Industry-Standard Design

This safe has everything you would expect from it. With a SecuRAM UL Listed lock and 9-gauge steel, it gets the basics of protection right. The door is resistant against sledgehammers and pry-bars due to its 3/16 inch solid steel deadbolt. To add to that, there are 8 locking bolts on the door to make sure it is as difficult to access as possible.

Top of The Line Fire Resistance

Like all of their other safes, the SnapSafe Titan is fireproof for 60 minutes against fire at 2300-degrees, which is much better than almost all of its competitors. Of course, the safe has an expandable door seal that will protect the contents against smoke and heat in the case of a fire.

Customizable Interior

The shelves can be moved around according to your needs. Not only that, the interior is lined to provide further fire protection. Sadly, this means that you need to set up the lining after assembling the safe. Certain users have reported that this is a difficult job (none of them said they couldn’t do it, though).

Bottom Line

The SnapSafe looks great, and functions even better. Considering the fact that the SnapSafe is ideal for people who may have to frequently move their safes, the Titan’s small size makes it perfect. When assembled, it weighs 400 pounds and provides better security than most other safes in this price range, making it the ideal SnapSafe product.

Runner Up: SnapSafe Super Titan Double Door

Pros
  • Huge size accommodates 36 long guns
  • Two-ply steel body
  • Magnesium-oxide internal panels
  • Chrome steel live locking bolts
Cons
  • Setting up interior takes a fair amount of time

The Super Titan Double Door is similar to the Titan for the most part. The only major difference is that it is able to hold a lot more guns (and obviously weights a lot more). It can still be assembled modularly and has a few additional features that make it more secure. Sadly, the price is also quite a bit more which is why I think the original Titan is better.

For The Collector

Unlike the standard Titan, the Super Titan is able to accommodate 36 long guns. This means that the vast majority of collectors will have no trouble fitting all of their guns inside the safe. Those whose appetite is still not satisfied can get the XXL version of this safe which accommodates 56 long guns.

Hardened Steel

The Super Titan has all the features of the Titan. To add to that, it has 2-ply steel that makes breaking into the safe an even tougher job. Apart from that, it has live locking bolts made of chrome steel to further strengthen its build and deter any intruder.

Proofed Panels

The internal panels are made from magnesium-oxide. This is a material that will protect against fire, moisture, and mold. Of course, the Super Titan has the same 2300-degrees/60-minutes fireproofing as the Titan.

Bottom Line

Apart from everything listed above, the Super Titan looks amazing due to its powdered finish. All in all, this is a great upgrade from the Titan for someone who likes to collect guns and have them in their house.

SnapSafe 2-Gun Keypad Vault

Pros
  • Removable interior shelf
  • Enough depth for larger handguns and accessories
  • 16-gauge steel construction
  • Backup key lock override
Cons
  • No fire protection

This is a product that I have used myself and I found it to be extremely satisfactory at a competitive price. Obviously, not everyone will find a use for this product. However, it is great for protecting your self-defense weapons.

Lots of Room

Even though the Keypad vault is smaller than most other safes of this type (it is smaller in height than most hardbacks), it provides space in a beautiful way. The depth is much more than you would expect from a safe this size, and the interior shelf is removable. This way, it is very easy to store 2 guns, a few magazines, and some ammo within its walls.

Keypad Lock

Of course, you should not expect a top-notch electronic lock at this price. However, the safe has a programmable keypad that gets the job done (if the job is to keep your weapons away from your family). Thankfully, there is a backup lock override in case you forget the combination.

Bottom Line

The SnapSafe Keypad Vault is one of my favorite safes when it comes to providing basic protection to your self-defense weapons. It has enough security to make sure no one without significant knowledge of metals will be able to break in.

SnapSafe Under Bed XXL Safe

Pros
  • Digital Lock and a key backup
  • 5-foot cable for anchoring
  • Pre-drilled for permanent installation
  • Padded tray
Cons
  • Space can be a little tight

This is another specialty safe that is meant for people who want to store a self-defense weapon at home. As such, while it does not offer great security, it gets the job done.

Completely Child-Proof

With a digital lock and a key to back it up, this safe is secure enough to protect against children. On top of that, it has an anti-pry feature to ensure that it cannot be opened with brute force.

Easy to Set Up

Not only is the safe very easy to move around, but it has numerous features that ensure it stays under the bed. You can permanently mount it to a spot using its pre-drilled holes. If that is not an option, then there is a 5-foot security cable that will anchor it to a heavy object (e.g. your bed).

Decent protection

I would not recommend storing any valuables inside this safe as it will not protect against fire. However, it has a padded tray that is very good for protecting your guns. It is possible for you to fit 2 long guns as well as a few handguns on top of that. Ideally, you will want to store a shotgun as it is usually a great choice for self-defense.

Bottom Line

For those who like to keep a self-defense weapon with a decent amount of stopping power, the SnapSafe Under Bed XXL Safe is a great fit. While it is not meant for the gun enthusiast, it provides enough protection for you to make sure that no minor is able to get its hands on your weapons. On top of that, the safe can be accessed extremely quickly due to its digital lock.

SnapSafe TrekLite Lock Box

Pros
  • 2 locking options
  • Extremely lightweight
  • Durable construction
Cons
  • Only space for 1 extra magazine

Even though SnapSafe manufactures a lot of lock boxes, the TrekLite is by far my favorite. In fact, this may be one of the best lock boxes on the market when compared with its price. Here is why:

Portability at its Finest

Most other lock boxes weigh at least 3 pounds. The TrekLite, on the other hand, weighs only 1.6. This means that it is extremely easy to carry anywhere. You can simply slip it into your briefcase and you will essentially only be feeling the weight of the handgun itself (or whatever you decide to put in it).

Multiple Locks

Just to be clear, you can purchase this safe with either the combination lock or the key. The combination lock has over 10,000 possible combinations so guessing it is impossible. Personally, I prefer the key lock due to it being faster to access as long as you have the key on your person.

Durable Polycarbonate Material

The polycarbonate used to manufacture the TrekLite is extremely durable and impact-resistant. Rest assured, your valuables are safe inside the box.

Bottom Line

Considering its price, this is perhaps the best value you can get for any SnapSafe product. The TrekLite lock box was built for the person who needs to carry his/her safe with him everywhere. For people like those, a few pounds can make all the difference, and TrekLite is as lightweight as they come!

SnapSafe’s History

SnapSafe came about when its founder Edward J. McGunn had trouble moving his gun safes to the second story of his house. The original idea behind SnapSafe was to have a safe that was not only easy to set up, but also easy to move around.

The modular safes that are on offer can be assembled with a wrench (that is provided with every safe) in less than 30-minutes. Personally, I like to think of SnapSafe as the IKEA of gun safes. You order it, you build it yourself, and you save yourself some money in the process.

Since 2015, SnapSafe has been operating under the Hornady banner. Hornady, of course, is one of the biggest names when it comes to weaponry. The quality of the safes has been consistent and reliable since SnapSafe’s inception in 2009, and its portfolio has only grown.

Nowadays, SnapSafe offers three different kinds of safes. The modular series are conventional safes that can be built yourself. The specialty safes are pre-built, usually much smaller in size, and serve a specific purpose. Lastly, the lock boxes are ideal for storing a single weapon and prioritize portability more than anything else.

Where are SnapSafe Safe’s Made?

All of Hornady’s products, including those that are built under the SnapSafe banner, are manufactured in the USA. In fact, the thing I am the most surprised by is how SnapSafe is able to offer its safes at such cheap prices while still manufacturing them in the country.

When it comes to protecting their valuables, people demand the best. As such, safes manufactured within the US are considered to be of top quality and are preferred by people over those manufactured in China or other low-cost labor countries.

With SnapSafe, you can be assured that you are getting great value no matter which model you purchase. As anyone who has used their products will know, Hornady is not known for compromising quality.

Why go With SnapSafe?

You are probably wondering why you should go with SnapSafe over one of the more conventional safe companies. Here are a few reasons:

Modular Construction: Modular Construction ensures that it is very easy to carry a safe to your preferred location. No additional help will be required and you will be able to set up the safe yourself in no time.

Design: SnapSafe is a relatively new company when it comes to gun safes. As such, they understand that ‘looks’ are very important to many modern gun enthusiasts. As such, SnapSafe products are designed to look beautiful. The signature matte-black finish, coupled with the companies overarching logo makes it very easy to identify one of their safes.

Security: If you think that Modular safes are less secure, then think again. SnapSafe uses industry-standard components to make sure that their safes are incredibly difficult to break into. In fact, their safes are much better at protecting your valuables against fire. While most other brands offer 45-minutes of fire protection at 1400-degrees, SnapSafe offers 60-minutes of protection at 2300-degrees.

Choices: Unlike other companies that produce safes that are quite similar to one another, SnapSafe tries to innovate as much as possible. Of course, they have many safes that are similar to one another. However, they try to be as versatile as they can. This is more evident when you take a look at their specialty line than anywhere else.

Price: Despite all of the features listed above, SnapSafe products are competitively priced. Of course, you should not expect the quality that would encompass a BARSKA premium safe. However, SnapSafe offers a great bang for your buck!

Customer Service: Along with continuous phone support and knowledgeable representatives, SnapSafe offers a lifetime warranty on all of their safes. Of course, there are conditions to this (that can be viewed here), but the general reviews of their customer support across the web are more than positive.

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a standard safe to hold a few guns and other valuables, then the SnapSafe Titan is your best bet. Of course, those with more guns can opt for the larger double door version.

The other safes on this list are meant to serve specific purposes. While I would recommend the larger Titan to any gun enthusiast, I personally do not like to keep anything other than a handgun at home. As such, my personal favorite from this list is the TrekLite Lock Box. Having used many different lock boxes, I find the TrekLite to be the lightest of them all and the easiest one to carry around with me.
